When I think of safety I think of the first limb of the eight limbs of yoga. Ahimsa. Ahimsa means “to do no harm”. Practice yoga in a way that speaks to your body, your make-up, the point in life in which you are in, without going any further.
Yin yoga teaches us to find our edges and to honor them. Understanding that our edges are moving targets and that sometimes we can go deeper or sometimes we must pull pack. Practicing with Ahimsa means to practice with kindness towards yourself first. When we practice mindfully this way, we begin to soften our views on ourselves and our lives. We begin to learn to stop pushing too hard all the time, that there is a time and a place to push yourself and then to soften and pause so that you don’t break when life gets chaotic and messy. Practice Ahimsa, means to practice loving-kindness
mindfully.
A special word on COVID: Safety has a new meaning today and in my studios and classes we honor the opportunity to practice with personal distance. Sanitization efforts are geared toward providing you a space that honors the current issues we are all facing when it comes to the spread of disease and the opportunity to meet. It is true that no one person or business can promise to provide space that is without the potential for issues to arise, my in person studios have taken great precautions to assure we have honored sanitization and space.
